Winemaking
From grape to bottle
Dedicated specialist wine makers have carefully selected the grapes for this fine, crisp rosé wine. The Pinotage grapes come from bush vines and in order to achieve the “special reserve” style, the grapes are allowed to ripen before being harvested for longer than is usual when making rosé wines. The must is fermented at a cool temperature for 3 weeks to maintain the fresh and fruity sweetness in the wine. Once the wine has achieved the ideal alcohol and sugar levels, the fermentation is stopped, thereby ensuring a wine with perfect fruit and freshness.

The name "Swartland" comes from Afrikaans, which is one of the official languages of South Africa. The word "Swartland" translates literally to "black land."
